Image of Brooke My life has put me in a position where I have experienced firsthand the difficulties people can face but, at the same time, the difference that can be made when we care enough to work together for a cause that reaches beyond ourselves. It is with this awareness that I embark on my latest commitment: running for New York State Senate in 2006, for New York's 2nd senatorial district.

For more than a decade, I have dedicated myself to instilling hope and encouragement in people around the world who need it most. I have fought passionately for issues like equal access, cutting edge health care research, and new ways of looking at complex problems. I have worked to give a voice to those who continue to go unheard, and my message of hope and perseverance lies as the basis for all that I do.

Now, I am fighting to bring a refreshing change to Long Island's politics by running for the New York State Senate. For too long, issues that Long Islanders care about have gone unanswered because of the dearth of ideas and situation of stagnation that occurs in Albany. As a candidate, I believe in:

   •  Creating housing opportunities for Long Islanders
   •  Ensuring adequate funding for schools
   •  Developing feasible transportation solutions
   •  Securing open space and environmental protections
   •  Embracing the promise of stem cell research

But, in addition to this, things go much deeper. My campaign is one founded on the positive difference we all can have on each other's lives and the strides that can be made when we commit ourselves to a goal. This is a tangible statement of hope for the future, a statement that reaches far beyond the borders of New York and includes all people, regardless of location or ideology.
